Mixed Use

As the name suggests, a project with several “uses” put into one place is a “Mixed use project”. Interestingly, shopping remains most common in all such projects.

Other uses may be office spaces, hotel, serviced apartments, full residential apartments of different scales.

The idea of mixing the activities is inspired by the market streets of old cities where all such activities used to happen in same market street. The shop owners used to have their residences or offices right above their shops. The ground floors of residences used to get converted into commercial spaces and it has been a successful model for centuries.

Architronix provides design services for mixed-use projects. We make sure that local and national building bye-laws are properly studied are applied while designing a mix use project. All different activities have their own safety, privacy, and circulation norms. A thorough knowledge of all kinds of uses is required to design a successful mixed use project.

Fire safety is one of the major concerns. While mixing large gathering spaces, commercial spaces with residential, proper fire barriers need to be created. Elevators connecting various floors must have proper access control.

Architronix founder and director, Rajesh Verma, has worked on designs/detailing of mixed-use projects of various scales while he served as head of design department at Vastukriti. Some such projects are mentioned below:
